Explored recent advances in the field of genomics and proteomics.
Study of human microbe interactions, including human microbiome and infectious diseases of humans
Able to demonstrate an understanding of mathematical models of pattern formation, cell-cell communication, and evolutionary systems biology.
Understand ecology, biotechnology, genetics, evolution, current research, and environmental issues
Work in coordination with life scientists, chemists, and agriculturists in order to conduct research to find out the engineering aspects of Bioinformatics and AI
Design tools that aid in the analysis of bioinformatics data
Develop, design, the building biological networks and creation of database management systems for research work
Collaborate with life scientists, doctors, and clinical researchers to provide bioinformatic solutions for real-world problems

Overview

Bioinformatics is the application of technology that combines Biology with statistics and information technology to explore and understand biological data.
It makes it possible to have globally accessible databases that enable scientists to submit, search and analyze information
It offers analysis software for data studies and comparison. Besides provides tools for modeling, visualizing, exploring, and interpreting data.
The important objective is to convert a multitude of complex data into useful information and knowledge
Some research areas include the prediction of protein structures, drug discovery and design of new drugs, alignment of gene and protein sequences, regulation of gene expressions and pathways, interactions of biomolecules including proteins, an association of genes with different diseases, drug design utilizing 3-D structure modeling and computational chemistry (Cheminformatics), etc
Bioinformatics is applicable in several areas of Biology, Chemistry, Pharmaceuticals, Medicine, and Agriculture

Career Opportunities

Current biological and medical labs, for instance, are sequencing human genomes.
Thus modern biological and medical research cannot be done without Bioinformatics
Research work in the area of genetic diseases and medical genomics is rapidly increasing and the future of personalized medicine depends on bioinformatics approaches
Some other approaches are designing and manipulating complex databases, Creating web-based analytical tools and algorithms, and Developing new software for projects
They can work as Bioinformatics Scientists or Bioinformatics Software Developers in several companies
A core biologist may not be familiar with the statistical and algorithmic knowledge required in this field

Course Curriculum

The first two years create a very strong base in the fundamentals of Computer Science and Engineering along with an emphasis on Artificial Intelligence, which is needed for any Bioinformatics professional
