National Science Day on 28th February 2026
D. Y. Patil International University, Akurdi, Pune successfully celebrated National Science Day on 28th February 2026 with an insightful seminar on “New Developments in Science and Emerging Career Opportunities” along with an exciting SCI-HACKATHON 2.0 Competition.
The event commenced with a warm welcome and Saraswati Pooja, followed by the felicitation of the esteemed resource person, Dr. Satishchandra Ogale, Director, Research Institute of Sustainable Energy (RISE), TCG-CREST, Kolkata, and Emeritus Professor, IISER Pune.
Dr. Ogale delivered an inspiring and thought-provoking session highlighting recent advancements in science, sustainable energy research, innovation ecosystems, and evolving career opportunities for young engineers and researchers. His interaction with students encouraged curiosity, research orientation, and a forward-looking scientific mindset.
As a key highlight of the celebration, SCI-HACKATHON 2.0 provided a dynamic platform for students to present innovative ideas and develop practical solutions addressing real-world scientific and technological challenges. Teams showcased creativity, technical expertise, and problem-solving skills, reflecting the spirit of innovation and collaboration.
The program also featured an address by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Manish Bhalla, who emphasized the importance of innovation, interdisciplinary learning, and scientific responsibility in nation building.
The seminar and hackathon witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members, making it a truly enriching academic celebration of science, innovation, and research excellence.
